Connection with the practice

Bridging academia and the business world

At the department of Management (DiPSA) at the university of Bergamo we believe that a solid academic foundation must be complemented by hands-on experience and close collaboration with the professional world. Our strong relationship with companies, institutions, and professionals enriches the learning process, fosters innovation, and strengthens our research and teaching impact.

Each year DiPSA activates a wide range of initiatives connecting students, faculty, and organisations. These activities offer tangible opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world contexts and promote the co-creation of knowledge between academia and practice.

Our core initiatives include:

  • Guest lectures and professional testimonials
Managers, entrepreneurs, and industry experts are regularly invited to share their experience in class, offering students first-hand insights into current trends, sector challenges, and career paths.

  • Company visits
Organised throughout the academic year, company visits allow students to explore different business environments, learn directly from practitioners, and build professional awareness.

  • Internships
DiPSA supports curricular and extracurricular internships in collaboration with a vast network of companies. Internships offer students practical experience and often lead to career opportunities.

  • Field Projects
A flagship initiative of DiPSA, Field Projects are co-designed learning labs where companies, students, and faculty collaborate to address real business challenges. Students work in teams, applying tools and frameworks to analyse problems and deliver actionable solutions.

Recent topics explored include:

  • Market and industry analysis
  • Internationalisation strategies
  • Digital marketing and branding
  • Global supply chain management
  • Business model innovation
  • Corporate entrepreneurship and venturing
  • Diversity management
  • Performance evaluation systems

These projects are active across both master’s programmes and executive education: for example, the Master in Digital Business Development, where students collaborate with companies on real-world challenges and digital transformation projects.
