BAUHAUS4EU is a strategic alliance of ten European universities, co-funded by the European Commission’s Erasmus+ Programme under the European Universities initiative. The network integrates teaching, research, and societal engagement, fostering collaboration among institutions, students, academics, and local communities.

  • Bauhaus-Universität Weimar (Germany)
  • Blekinge Institute of Technology (Sweden)
  • Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco (Portugal)
  • Polis University (Albania)
  • University of Architecture Civil Engineering and Geodesy (Bulgaria)
  • University of Bergamo (UniBg) (Italy)
  • University of Economics in Katowice (Poland)
  • University of Macedonia (Greece)
  • Université Lumière Lyon 2 (France)
  • Université de Picardie Jules Verne (France)

The initiative draws inspiration from the New European Bauhaus movement, which combines design, sustainability, accessibility, and aesthetics to shape more inclusive and resilient societies. BAUHAUS4EU leverages these values to promote interdisciplinary learning, green transition, social inclusion, and digital transformation within European higher education.

The university of Bergamo is a founding member of the alliance, contributing actively through several departments, including DiPSA. Our involvement focuses on:

  • developing joint courses and micro-credentials that integrate business, sustainability, and social innovation;
  • promoting student and staff mobility within the alliance;
  • collaborating on applied research and civic engagement projects
  • hosting transnational events, seminars and workshops in collaboration with european partners;
  • supporting skills for future challenges, in line with the EU Green Deal and Sustainable Development Goals.

These actions reinforce DiPSA’s commitment to shaping a new model of international education based on cooperation, experimentation and impact.

The 1st BAUHAUS4EU Forum was held from 11 to 13 June 2025 in Castelo Branco (Portugal), hosted by the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco. Representatives from all ten partner universities, including UniBg’s Rector, Vice-Rector for Internationalisation, faculty, staff and students, gathered to advance cooperation and sustainable development in line with the values of the New European Bauhaus.

Main objectives of the alliance

BAUHAUS4EU aims to:

  • develop and implement a long-term integrated strategy to provide education, research and outreach services that respond to today’s digital, environmental, and social transitions;
  • establish a European inter-university campus, enabling seamless mobility (physical, virtual or blended) for studying, teaching, researching and sharing services among institutions;
  • design and deliver innovative joint study programmes and flexible learning formats (including micro-credentials), across all cycles of higher education;
  • create interdisciplinary knowledge teams that bring together students, faculty, researchers, entrepreneurs, and local stakeholders to tackle real-world challenges using a challenge-based learning approach.
Benefits for DiPSA students and staff

Participation in BAUHAUS4EU offers a wide range of opportunities, including:

  • short and long-term mobility within the alliance;
  • access to joint learning experiences and transdisciplinary modules;
  • participation in innovation labs, hackathons, and international seminars;
  • new teaching formats and shared digital platforms for collaborative education;
  • networking and exchange with students, researchers and professionals across Europe.

These experiences help DiPSA students and faculty strengthen their international profile and gain a deeper understanding of how management can contribute to a more sustainable, fair and future-oriented society.
