Departmental structure and institutional role
The Department of Management (DiPSA) is one of the eight departments of the University of Bergamo. While it operates within the broader governance framework of the University and complies with national higher education regulations, the Department has an autonomous structure with decision-making, financial, and human resource independence.
DiPSA regularly provides reports and updates to the University’s governing bodies, including the Rector, the Board of Directors, and the Academic Senate.

In 2022, DiPSA strategically expanded its academic scope to include sociology and quantitative methods, recognising the increasing importance of social transformation and data-driven decision-making in business. As a result, eight new faculty members joined the Department.

The Head of Department is elected by the Department Council and is responsible for strategic leadership, external representation, and the coordination of teaching, research and third mission activities.

Department Council
The Department Council is the main deliberative body. It is composed of all tenured faculty members, elected representatives of the administrative staff, and student representatives. The Council approves the Department's strategic plans, budget, academic offerings and research priorities.
Department Committees
Smaller executive bodies assist the Head of Department in operational matters and prepare items for Council deliberation. Each committee includes designated faculty members and administrative staff.
Programme Directors Committee
Oversees each degree programme. Responsibilities include quality assurance, programme development, alignment with accreditation standards, and student admissions.
Quality Assurance Committee
Ensures continuous improvement in teaching, research and services in accordance with institutional and national quality assurance policies.
Research Committee
Supports strategic development of research and assists faculty in competitive funding applications.
Third Mission Committee
Plans and evaluates outreach initiatives, knowledge transfer activities and the Department’s societal impact.
Internationalisation Committee
Develops global partnerships and manages mobility programmes for students and staff.
Communication Committee
Coordinates internal and external communication strategies and stakeholder engagement.
Student Orientation and Internship Committee
Guides students in academic and career development and oversees internship programmes that connect learning with practical experience.
Quality for Teaching and Learning Committee
Promotes excellence in academic delivery, curriculum alignment with standards, and innovation in teaching practices.
Ph.D. Committee
Oversees doctoral programmes and supports PhD candidates throughout their academic and professional journey.
